The Mayor, the Rabbi, and the Rabbi's wife...they were watching a video celebrating their time in Bakersfield at a Torah celebration at Bakersfield Museum of Art.
I was visiting my family in Eureka, CA, and I took my daughters to Sequoia Park to play. It's right in the middle of town, and there are tons of beautiful second-growth redwoods that make for great hikes and great photographic backdrops. These young men were weeks away from boot camp, but first they were going to become brothers by the marriage of the parents! A friend was taking the family's engagement photos with an iPad, and I horned in like the know-it-all that I am and offered to shoot them for free with my DSLR...this is one of the images. It was a pleasure to do, and the bride-to-be was stunned when I didn't watermark the images and called them "my gift". But don't get any ideas! I have three children now and can't give away any shoots!
I made this image for a story titled "The Last Rock N' Roll DJ" for Bakersfield Magazine. Danny was probably the best boss I've ever had, and he made me a better radio talent. He's also one of the last new music DJs on the radio who picks his own music. Great guy, fun shoot.
